Pass Word Inc: Our Story and History
Hazel Riley founded R & R Telephone Service in 1936 and Jennings B. (“Bac”) Bacon purchased its successor, the Telephone Message Exchange, in 1955. “Bac” (pronounced “Bake”) moved to Spokane to run the Telephone Answering Service and Call Center and the Bacon family followed shortly.
His son, Rod Bacon, joined the firm in 1967. In that year, the firm incorporated as Pass Word, Inc., adopted the Pass Word logo, and introduced Radio Paging Service to the Inland Northwest. It put the Pass Word logo on 30,000 pagers in service in four states by 1998. Rod became President in 1970 and runs the firm to this day.
As technology evolved, so did Pass Word, from wired phones and cord switchboards serving the local area to gigabit Internet enabling nationwide service, remote linked offices, and remote operators. Our clientele has evolved as well, now encompassing one-person businesses and professional practitioners, major clinics, and global corporations.
Our services range from simple message taking to complex computerized order entry and dispatching with rotating staff on call. Continual investment in technology enables Pass Word to personalize your service while providing HIPAA compliance and high cyber security.
Nevertheless, our guiding principle has remained the same throughout this evolution: We do it your way and we do it with a smile!
